The Mark of Good Art
Saturday 14th June 2025
The Artoom , Cottarhill
Morning Session 10 - 1pm
Afternoon Session 2 - 5pm
How we respond to nature- lets get mark making!
Developing your observation and mark-making skills in art is essential for deepening your understanding and expression of the world around you. By honing these abilities, you cultivate a greater awareness of light, form and texture, allowing you to translate your unique perspective onto the canvas.
This 3 hour workshop will be about observing and collecting marks, working out how we can develop them further, incorporating them into our compositions.
We will be sketching in my garden and local area initially using pencils and pens to capture our marks in a quick and spontaneous way.
We will create some simple, carefree, semi abstract pieces where we capture the lines, the scale and feeling of the place. We will develop them further using loose washes of inks and acrylics in the art room or outside, whichever you prefer and weather dependant
I will be demonstrating through out and will be be there to help and guide you. This course is about developing our observational skill.
All materials and a small sketchbook will be provided.
Coffee/ Tea and biscuits will be on hand to keep us going.
Come and join me for a lovely relaxed, arty session in the Artroom.
I am so looking forward to you joining me.
An email will be sent out one week before the course with further information
