I loved the impact of the wind on the sky and the sea during this trip. The wind was a constant topic of conversation on the boat, Its strength, its direction, what it was bringing towards us and what we would have to do. The wind impacted the movement of the clouds, their speed and density. We could see the weather coming and with a little help from Ollie the Skipper, we were learning to spot squalls and calm moments by the patterns on the sea. It was fascinating and hugely satisfying to time the squalls reaching the boat from the distance of the changing surface of the sea.

This painting is all about the wind - my love of the fresh air, its power and its strength.
